HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

DSC_1868Happy Birthday to my Mitchel! He turns 29 years old today… so close to the big 3-0!!!! =) I am so blessed to have him in my life. He is an incredibly intelligent, incredibly driven man and he makes everything in my life better. Couldn’t do it without you, love. Here’s to another year older and hopefully another year wiser. ;)

Happy Birthday, Broseph!

johnnyHappy 24th Birthday to my partner-in-crime, my best friend since childhood, and one of the men in my life who has meant the most to me! My brother Johnny is an incredible young man and I’m so proud of all of the hard work he’s been putting into school this year! He’s gotten SOC [Student-of-the-Course] twice now and he keeps getting better and better! I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in his life!

Pittsburgh Trip

A collective sigh issues from every fiber of my being just LOOKING at this photo.
Pittsburgh, PA.
It’s been the only static home in my life, being an Army brat will do that to you.
My grandparents all lived around the city… it is one of my happy places.
I bleed black and gold [Steelers, baby]!
That’s why I was absolutely smitten with getting the opportunity to go home to visit my family up there and celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday!!

This photo of my grandfather with my second cousin Elise just melts my heart. Not only is it touching that I got to meet her and hopefully will be a part of her life [cousins don't generally get to stay that in touch], but my grandfather is her great-grandfather and she has such a great relationship with him.
It’s incredibly touching, & I’m a sap, so I love it.

We started with a lunch out on the town with the family! Photos above are of the entire Ruggles family in attendance, my family with Pap, & the cousins with Pap!

After the restaurant we all went back to Pap’s house to celebrate with a cook out. I was so overwhelmed with the opportunity to spend time with my extended family. They really are the greatest people. I love each of them so much… I can’t stand that we don’t see each other that much!

The next day we spent some time walking around the city (& riding on the INCLINE!!!) and then enjoying the last few hours with my grandfather before the drive home!

I really can’t ever fully express how much I appreciated the memories with my family & Mitchel [who is now as good as family]!! =) I love them all and can’t wait to see everyone again!!

Outfit Post

The Birthday outfit!!! =)

It was a whimsical dress for a fun night at my favorite restaurant [O'Charley's] and hitting up the cinema for The Campaign!!

Twenty Six & My Top 5 of Twenty Five!

Today is my 26th birthday!!! I can’t believe how fast my life and the past few years have flown by… in memory of the last year, these are my top 5 memories from my 25th year!

1. Starting to date Mitchel. It’s been an incredible year… I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy in my life.

2. The day we brought Franklin home from the Humane Society. He was such a roly-poly little man!

3. Going on a family vacation to Washington, DC!! We went to the Smithsonians, stayed downtown, and really, just spent a TON of time together. I really love my family and spending down time with them!

4. Getting my owl tattoo!! I finally took the plunge and got my first large piece on my arm! I really could not love it more!

5. Starting a new job. And starting to think about my career in the long term! I’ve been making strides in my goals lately and I’m really happy to see what the future may bring!

Okay, 26… I’m ready for you!! Let’s see what you’ve got!! =)

Naomi’s 2nd Birthday

NaeNae turned 2 years old!!! For Naomi’s birthday we all got together and headed off to the Wacco Zoo!! =) It was such a fun day and the sun was out to celebrate with us!

After the Zoo, we came back to Louis & Lana’s house and opened gifts, grilled out, and had Spongebob cupcakes!!

Overall, it was quite the successful 2nd birthday for Miss Naomi! =)

Kristen’s 21st Birthday Party

I went to DC a couple weeks ago to celebrate my cousin Kristen’s 21st birthday!!! It was an incredible celebration and I felt so blessed to get to spend a couple days with the people I love. I even got to see my bff Shelly again!!! =] So without further ado… the trip photos!

It was a great trip!!! And Mitch survived a total of 24 hours in the car with me, my mom, and Johnny!!! =) haha.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Btw, this family photo falls under AWESOME.

Awkward:
-How much I’ve been putting off DIY projects. They make me happy… why can’t I get motivated to do them?!
-Going to work the day after a 10 hour road trip. Now that’s rough. haha
-Rainy days that give me perpetual sinus issues and headaches!
-How quiet it is at work sometimes. We need some elevator music or SOMETHING. haha

Awesome:
-Celebrating Kristen 21st Birthday last weekend. She’s an incredible young lady and I’m so blessed to know her.
-THE HUNGER GAMES MOVIE COMES OUT NEXT THURSDAY!!!!!!!!! :) So excited!!
-Road tripping with my mom, brother, and Mitchel! =] They made a 10 hour drive so much less hellacious!
-Lunch with my friends at work. They make me laugh and help me to let go of the small stuff!
-My new Warby glasses. They make everything clearer… and every outfit cuter/nerdier. I <3 it!

Mitch’s Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Mitchel’s 28th birthday last weekend and it was a blast!!
Both of our moms, my brother, and his sister came over to our SUPER DUPER clean apartment [we had spent the whole morning cleaning it] and had some delicious honey chicken and cupcakes. Not at the same time.

Also, I forced everyone to take family photos, which they were NOT pleased about. haha. But I’m so happy with the way it all turned out. =] I love our families. Any day when we get to spend time with them is pretty fantastic!

Happy Birthday, my love. <3

Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-Not being able to see when I drive. Really really cannot wait for my Warby Parker glasses to get here. <3
-Missing days of blogging at a time. Ugh, Sarah... get with the program.
-Not dressing nicely enough this week to do a proper Outfit Post. Oh, my my… welcome to the “Sarah prefers comfort over style” section of my blog. haha.
-Planning a baby shower and being MUCHO behind in preparation. This weekend will be baby-central at my apartment! =]

Awesome:
-Mitchel. He has been THAT much more loving and supportive lately. Gotta love that man o’mine. Happy Birthday, babers! ;)
-Going out with work friends!! It was such a fantabulous night out on the town. I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun going out!
-Planning puppy dates with my friends Amanda & Amy. Franklin is going to be so happy to be surrounded by two lady pups. =) My dog has swagger.
-My brother. Seriously… getting to spend so much time with him has really been a blessing. I’m a lucky lady to be surrounded by such wonderful men in my life.
